Bridport business Guy Crabb Plumbing and Heating Ltd are celebrating the fact that both current apprentices Jeff Robertshaw and Ben Hobbins have been awarded apprentice of the year accolades from their respective colleges Exeter and Weymouth.

Jeff and Ben have both gained NVQ level 2 Plumbing and Heating qualifications and are now studying for NVQ level 3.

Exeter Course lecturer Chris Bennett said ‘The level 2 Plumbing Apprenticeship is a tough programme to get through, unless your name is Jeff Robertshaw.’

At the very start of the course I soon realised Jeff was a very hardworking and dedicated young man. Jeff has always wanted to be a Plumber, with sheer persistence Jeff found an employer and then researched and organised his own college placement. Jeff is very technically minded and has the rare ability to be as good in the theory lessons as he is in the practical.

Jeff is and will be an exceptional Heating Engineer who is a credit to his employer, the college and the industry.

Well done Jeff.’

Weymouth tutor Ken Whiting said ‘ Ben has worked his way up through level 1 and 2 NVQ and is almost finished with his level 3. He is always keen, hardworking and willing to learn, Ben’s a great student he will go far’.

Director Guy Crabb said, I’m delighted that both Jeff and Ben have been recognised for their hard work, they have both progressed extremely well through their first two years. Apprenticeships combine college tuition with hands on training and skills handed down from our established engineers, who deserve recognition for their input too. I’m very pleased to have Jeff and Ben as part of our team; they are testimony that having a great attitude to their work and studies will result in success.’
