What is GAS SAFE ?

The GAS SAFE Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in 2009.

It is the official list of gas engineers who are registered to work safely and legally on boilers, cookers, fires and all other gas appliances. By law all gas engineers must be on the GAS SAFE register.

The main focus of the register is on improving and maintaining gas safety to the highest standards. The body makes sure all gas engineers are qualified to work with gas.

What is OFTEC?

Since it was launched in 1991, OFTEC has played a leading role in raising standards within the heating industries of the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The trade association operates an accredited competent person registration scheme for technicians involved in the installation and maintenance of oil, solid fuel, and renewable heating equipment work.
OFTEC’s aim is to promote the highest professional standards across the industry and provide efficient service and support.

OFTEC can provide registration for technicians working in the following areas:

• Installing domestic oil-fired appliances for heating or cooking
• Installing domestic renewable heating appliances (heat pumps and solar thermal) including MCS registration
• Installing oil tanks or other equipment associated with oil-fired appliances
• Installing central heating and hot water systems (including unvented hot water)
• Electrical (Part P)
• Commissioning and servicing oil-fired boilers, cookers and associated equipment
• Specifying oil heating systems
• Carrying out work under the PAS 2030 scheme
• Installation of solid fuel appliances with an internal boiler
• Installation of solid fuel appliances without an internal boiler
• Commissioning and servicing of solid fuel appliances with an internal boiler
• Commissioning and servicing of solid fuel appliances without an internal boiler
